Facebook announced today that they will acquire FriendFeed, but no report on the amount they tend to spend on it.
Good news – Facebook will be absorbing all the FriendFeed employees, so it looks like no one will end up unemployed. Twitter and Facebook have been battling over roles lately. Facebook has been tightening up some of their code so you can’t do certain coding – purchasing FriendFeed may let FB let go of the tight reigns so we can all develop more cool apps for FB. (let’s wait and see).

Quote from the official press release from Facebook -
Facebook and FriendFeed share a common vision of giving people tools to share and connect with their friends,†said Bret Taylor, a FriendFeed co-founder and, previously, the group product manager who launched Google Maps. “We can’t wait to join the team and bring many of the innovations we’ve developed at FriendFeed to Facebook’s 250 million users around the world.
Bad news – Facebook may remove the charm that FriendFeed has, once they start changing aspects of FriendFeed and incorporating pieces of it into their own FB site. That’s really all the bad news I can think of. It may be a quality acquisition.
