This title may not be as catching as I would like, but getting your business noticed online is important.

Why is SEO important to my business?

Believing you can open a business, do some basic advertising and trust that the orders are going to pour in – are wishful thinking. Most companies fail in their first year because while they offer incredible services or products, they just don’t get the online traffic they need to succeed. They often times need a little push and SEO (search engine optimization) can give that boost.

SEO and Google Analytics

When starting up an SEO campaign, whether by yourself or by hiring a search engine optimization company, you need to have a Google Analytics account. It helps you track the visitors to your site and allows you to make goal conversions so you can see how visitors are reacting to your site.

I can’t think of any professional SEO companies or individuals out there that would recommend against setting up Google Analytics but there may be one. Not that I know though.

Getting a visual of online visitors

I have added some images to give you an example of reading the analytics.

Looking at this image below you will see the analytics for a 3 month period.

You see that when started out on Apr. 15 there were 154 visitors that day. At the end of 3 months on July 15 there were 1000 visitors! In only 3 months the visitors increased by 6x of what it started at. This is only a 3 month section of the analytics but what I would like to mention is when doing an SEO campaign, expect on working on it for 6 months. I know some companies that offer 3 months but my experience is they only work if you are already well indexed on the search engines. Don’t rely on only doing a 3 month SEO campaign if you are a brand new business that’s just starting out with your online presence.

How can SEO help me?

Let’s say that image was an interpretation of an SEO campaign for your business. While averaging 150 visitors a day works for some businesses, (I actually have clients that do well with 20-30 visitors a day) why not increase those visitors. Increasing traffic to your website will usually increase your sales and with enough visitors you can even charge for advertising like we used to at SEO Web Help. While many factors determine if your SEO campaign will work for you, the overall results should help your online traffic grow.
