Top 5 SEO tips

Indulging in SEO mainly means finding and employing the different ways to increase your websites ranking. Below are discussed some SEO tips.

1.Upload quality content in your site – One of the efficient ways to increase traffic to your website is to include informative and unique content in your website. This is mainly more important for information based sites and blogs.

2.Diversify your marketing approach – If your website is comparatively new, that is, you have launched it just a few months back, and then you need to diversify your marketing approach. You will start getting ranking after a certain time.

3.Check the keyword density – It is also important for you to use the important keywords in your content. Then you should also calculate the keyword density of each of the articles and it should be approximately close to 3%. Keywords help search engines to get an idea about what your website is about. You should make sure that the keyword density doesn’t exceed 8%. Otherwise your webpage may be regarded as spam by the search engines.

4.Increase backlinks to your site – Another efficient way to boost your SEO efforts is creating or increasing backlinks to your website. In order to do this, you will have to try and feature a backlink on other good quality and high traffic websites. In this way, you’ll be able to get immediate traffic from that site featuring your websites link.

5.Add a sitemap to your website – You can also increase traffic to your website by including a sitemap in your website. This makes it easier for the various search engine spiders to read and then index your web pages. As indexed web pages appear in the search engines, more people visit your website.

In addition to all the above SEO tips, branding your website can also help you to get more traffic. You can do this by displaying the same logo on each and every page of your website. Thus your logo gets a distinct identity. You can also use your domain name in your business cards and may be letter heads too.

Building one way backlinks to your web site is also a good tip.

Thanks for the tips. I’m new to SEO – I joined an IT support company about a month ago and am working on it for them and still feel like a beginner but am gradually getting there! I definately feel that quality content is key – otherwise readers will click off straight away which won’t be any good. I’ve been trying to write at least one blog per week too and have been looking into what my target audience are discussing and asking questions on, so that I can then build more links and relationships with them.
I also think guest blogs are a good way to help with SEO – a couple of people have contacted me and have written guest blogs for us which have been helpful for activity to our site.

  10. Blah blah… dude… seriously this posts is so scathingly thin on content!

    What makes quality content?

What is a diverse marketing approach

Keyword density hasnt mattered for a few years

    increase backlinks – how

add a sitemap – err html or xml?

if you’re going to write a post take some time to write ‘quality content’ that people can follow rather than regurgitating the same old nonsense!

I have to agree with Sean; keyword density is a myth. Certainly it’s important not to exceed a reasonable percentage. That would be “keyword stuffing” and there is a negative factor for that. But there is no ideal range for content, though it is common to hear even experienced SEOs suggest 3-5%. That is probably a good ratio for usability; your copy will not read poorly at that rate. But it isn’t an SEO factor. Otherwise, good basic advice for new site owners.

    Thanks Neil for the post,

I agreee with sean that keyword density doesn’t play an important role in these days. Read this post from SEOHimanshu who clarified the issue of keyword density where matt cutts himself told “keyword should be present but density doesn’t matter”.

I would have to agree with Sean. Nice and concise article, great for beginners. However, number 3 is not as relevant as it used to be. There are also a few dozens of other factors affecting a Search Engine’s rankings so SEO newbies should keep on reading. Great start though.

Nice post but I really don’t think #3 is very much a factor these days. As long as you have a couple mentions of your keyword in the page title or on the page headings (or H2). The biggest factors are quality of content and your link profile relative to competitors.

      Hi Sean,

Thank you for your valuable comments. There are many factors which can impact your sites. It is not possible to wrap up every thing in some words. Some factors may be more effective and important and some may be less, but it is still a part of SEO either basic or advance seo. According to me we can’t stuff the keywords. It will make the content spam.

      Thanks & Regards,

      Neil
