Using anchor text can benefit your SEO campaign. If you notice already, I use anchor text in my SEO articles when posting them. Did you see that? I just posted an anchor text in this article. Did you catch it?
What Is Anchor Text?
It’s the words that show up when you place a link on your website. Provided you do it similar to this -
a href=”http://www.seowebhelp.com”>SEO blog<
As you can see from the code above the link has "seo" in my domain name, and the Anchor Text is "SEO blog" which is picked up by the search engines and given an extra boost for the keyword "seo" because it contains it both in the link and the anchor text. Since seowebhelp is also a relevant site about "SEO" it will give it more of a positive boost on your site to link to it. Are you following me?
Here's how the link will look with the code hidden:
Notice how you now only see the words "SEO blog"? That is the anchor text.
"Search engine crawlers go through your sit lightning fast and when they read your links, they also read those keywords you may have as anchor text."
How to Use Anchor Text Properly
Try not to use anchor text keywords that are not relevant to the link they are linking to. Say you have a link to a website on candy, you wouldn't want to use an anchor text keyword that said "farming". Some people are still using "click here" or "continue" or "Read More >>" as their anchor text. That's not the way to do it.
Remember, when using proper anchor text, use keywords that are relevant to the site the link is pointing to and you can only benefit from it.
